About us
We are a community of active people from Košice who decided to build OFFICIAL, SUSTAINABLE AND INTERTAINING cycle trails throughout local woods.
The main goal of our association is to offer a conceptual solution for the construction and development of mountain cycling infrastructure, for which the area around Košice managed by Mestské lesy creates just the right conditions.
Our goal is to make the Košice region more attractive for both national and foreign mountain cyclists, to extend the offer so as to cover various leisure time interests of the locals as well as those visiting the city and their active involvement in the construction and development of cycle paths or sports events in the region in general.
There is quite an extensive network of marked cycle trails around Košice, that is limited to the existing tourist trails, forest tracks or hard-surface 3rd class roads.
We, however, think that mountain cycling is about something different and can be much more entertaining than just a ride down a simple forest slope. That is why we decided to build new cycle routes -single tracks used only by us, cyclists.
We decided to build our own routes that would be entertaining, technical and interesting, yet not completely easy to pass and, at the same time, available for the wide community of cyclists.
The history of our civic association dates back to 2007 when, at that time under the auspices of SIoMBA o.z., the first official 2 km-long single track named Strawberry was built in one of the forests managed by Mestské lesy Košice.
In Košice, SloMBA o.z. has been represented by the civic association KE.CY - košické cyklotraily o.z. since 2014. Under the umbrella of KE.CY , there have been three more official trails of about 4.4 km length built later on (Hold the Mushroom, Forest Space, Gold Flyte). All of them are located in the Bankov relaxation zone and they are very easy and quickly to get to from the city, either by bike, public means of transport or car.
We are currently working intensely on the legalisation of the existing trails that were built some time ago outside the KE.CY activities and equally intensely on getting new locations approved and on planning new track construction.
An increasing number of cyclists using KE.CY trails gives us the feeling that we are on the right track and that our activities have their place in Košice.
Moreover, with more people riding there will be also more people interested in the area they pass.
